If you build a website you know how hard is to create it well. But about getting new visitors to your website? It’s harder. The website creation is just like climbing a high mountain, but getting visitors is like coming back down ALIVE So, it’s more than double time consuming and energy exhausting.

And you must know this from the beginning, because when the website creation is finishing, the next journey will just begin. And without knowing this, a huge frustration will embrace you.

All you have to do is just follow the next steps as we did, and try to learn as much as you can from what others did. But not all others, only the competitors. Okay, at the beginning you’ll learn the general information about all these things. But later, closely you’ll keep an eye to learn what the competitors did.

And what competitors? Your competitors.

Because your blog or website is about something, even you’ll think that it’s not niched. It it. Frequently we see that even though all blogs “talk” about different things, but each blog about one, two or some, but not about all kind of things. In this way your website is on a niche.

Know your niche and you competitors, to get success

Okay, okay. Let’s step back a little bit to clarify some things. As we have told you earlier, your blog will be about something. That “about something” will make it to be categorized. And that category is actually the niche. The issue is that in that category, actually on that niche, almost in all cases there are already a lot of other blogs or websites which are talking about your subject. These are competitors, because they are already “there” in the golden place, in the top ten Google positions. But when we are talking about the Google positions we must say what keywords are used.

Ok, let’s begin to talk about real things. The first thing you should have in your mind when you are promoting your blog, is SEO (search engine optimization).

Why SEO?

Because your blog must be found by somebody. So, someone must find your blog and bring it to your reader, right? That “someone” is a search engine like Google, Bing, etc and is doing its job by robots. These robots (or “bots“) are actually software programs that scans the Internet looking to collect information from websites. Then those information are analyzed and structured by the search engine, and later that search engine is able to show information about your blog when you are interrogating him.

The bots can collect all kind of information about your website. They can scan your website many times in a day if you become a valuable source of information. They come alone if they consider you important. You won’t have to do nothing.

Search engines can be you friends or you enemies. It depends on you!

Or you can option to require them to visit your blog, especially at the beginning, when you website has not so much traffic even though you have there valuable information, ex. using Google Search Console Tool. But we’ll talk in a new dedicated article about all these.

Shortly this is how things are working, and for now it’s enough for you to understand that all information presented by your blog it’s possible to be scanned by bots. We said “possible” because you can choose to avoid that scan intentionally or not. We’ll see in other article why and when you can do it.

As a resume, SEO is focused on achieving a higher rankings from an organic perspective.

For now we think it’s pretty clear for you why SEO first? If not, be patient, all things will clarify as you will continue reading. We started and continue saying that you need to be patient for getting all results, because even the steps are known better or not by almost every online marketer, the way you choose to implement them for your blog create some ingredients that make unique your case.

More than that, even it’s a strategy that can be implemented by everyone, many people consider SEO as a complicated and boring activity, avoiding it. And all these even that it’s well known that the organic traffic is in the top of marketing channels on the web, among others like social media and email marketing.

So, first thing you’ll have to do is a simple research about a keyword because everytime when you write an article about something that not change very quickly, you should have a keyword ready, to rank on Google for exemple.

Just open Google and type the “search query” you should think that is your keyword. At the bottom you’ll get some “Searches related …”, which are actually the related keywords.

That’s exactly you’ll need. A complete information from the search engine perspective about what your are looking for and what exactly can suggest it to you for your query. That’s one of the best point you can start with. All your next article you’ll write, will be written about a topic, but considering the main keyword you’ll find and its related keywords.

Next, you have to take your keyword (your query for search engine) and all these related keywords and testing them using Google Keyword Planner (a free tool from Google) or MOZ PRO (a paid service from moz.com), to find one with low difficulty.

That will be de main keyword and you should know it very well. Did you find one?

Once you know the main keyword starting from the topic of your next article, it’s time to get a little bit relaxed and continue your usual work writing the article content.

Here we would say that you must be let to do your job. It’s very important to focus on your article content without being disturbed by other not relevant SEO suggestions, other than keep the topic.

As you are doing your job and you are on topic, everything it’s okay.

The SEO advices are very important, but thevalue of your article comes from the content.

A very valuable content can brings more visitors than any other SEO strategy. That’s why now you must focus on writing your article, because maybe you have something new to say that will be very appreciated about your readers, and the visitors of your blog will grow earlier than you expected.

But, let’s assume that you are a normal person and even your article will be genuine, in almost cases you are not an authority in domain and you don’t do laws, so your topic is already debated.

Here, right here, SEO comes to help you getting more visitors using those keywords.

Once your article is written, you have to come back and optimize it for your main keyword. It’s called on-page SEO.

On-page SEO is about what the content creators can do to ensure their content is easily discoverable by bots, using different elements such page metadata (structured info about your page), rules images, urls, tags, etc, all of them for your article. If you need a complete guide about on-page SEO, you have an article of Brian Dean

There’s also off-page SEO. Off-page SEO is about strategies that consider all your blog or website, not only a page, like link building, social marketing, etc.

Let’s get back and talk a little bit about on-page SEO. As you will read everywhere, it’s well known that having the keyword in the title is almost a must. Then try to write your article about your topic placing your keywords all around the main ideas, and don’t forget to have your main keyword in the first part of your article.

Even placing the main keyword in the title, it should need an entire article about what to do and not to do. In essence, try to place your main keyword at the beginning in the title, if possible.

Write your article for humans, not for robots.

The first part should mean to have the main keyword in the first phrases of your article and in the excerpt or meta description of your article. Actually is about that short part of your article a human being will try to read, because it’s the first part seen. And a robot will do also. Why? Because they are trained by human behaviour.

It’s obvious that a text that contains the keyword “black horse harness” at the beginning, it’s more probable to be about harnesses of black horses, instead of an article that has in the last phrase a sentence with it. If the other related keywords are creamed in the content of your article, it’s more likely your article is talking about this topic we are looking for.

A search engine will decide also, they being AI softwares that should do what a human being mind would do.

So, keep in mind to have your main keyword placed in the title and in the very first part of your article, and the related keywords all around the main ideas of your article.

The frequency of your main keyword is also important. You should not abuse using them, but having more than one presence in your content help you a lot.

Here, pay attention when you place your keywords. They must be naturally in your content. Why? Simple. Because your article is read by people, and they feel all these. If you insist repeating something it’s clear that somewhere something is wrong. If your article doesn’t bring something new and just repeat old ideas, it’s even clear that’s an ordinary garbage article and they will leave and will try to avoid it in next searches.

In the mean time the search engine will learn their behaviour and will understand that your article is not they are looking for, even you did your best to create a perfect on-page SEO. Your article is not good enough and will be shown later in search results, on the second, or the third page in the best cases. So, no chance to get more visitors.

That’s why we insist to do your on-page SEO after you finished writing your article. It’s a must, not an option. Your articole content must bring that traction to your article to get more and more visitors. Content of your article does 50% of your job, remember this.

Next, as we mentioned, your main keyword and all related keywords are in title and around main ideas, which are encapsulated in H-tags. The title in H1 and the they will follow the structure of H2 – H3 – … and so on. These help a lot search engines to structure your content.

These not only structure your content for search engines, but you use mainly for visual structure of your article. All our work is using wordpress, and as theme developers we know how important is for our users to have their articles well formatted, to be easy to read and with an amazing design.

All these H – tags can be styled to fulfill the most delicated tastes.
